sorry this got away from me- this was a "book source" question and the damned book spelled it "ricami," whereas it seems to be "ricamo." And even that doesn't lead to the book answer very easily.
So, the answer is "broderie." (Not enough time to fairly hint the question, nor change it to something gettable, but plenty of time to reward those who check these boards often.)

I think "ricami" is the plural of "ricamo," and they seem to be either a type of, or another word for, embroidery.
