I was trying to keep it from becoming a novel: the pitcher who pitched twice when his (American League) team forfeited its right to use a designated hitter--either the pitcher had to take his turn at bat or a pitch-hitter was used. It's only happened a few times since the Designated Hitter rule was instituted and there's only one person who experienced it twice.
