When it read 6/12, I thought everyone had done what I did: first guessed "old maid" since the question asked for singular, couldn't find any viable alternate second word , and so just guessed the plural and hoped.

Ha! It was like "duh" when I finally tried the plural after trying anything I could think of in between. It was, after all, a Phil question and that's WHY I was so slow to figure it might be a plural when the question was singular.
